Encore Delivery System

The Encore Delivery System is used in a cardiac catheterization laboratory under the direction of a physician trained in cardiac catheterization procedures. The system is used in appropriate sterile conditions, under angiographic control with echocardiographic assistance as needed and available.

The Encore Delivery System is intended to provide a means by which an Encore occlusion device (ASD or PFO) is deployed to the location of the defect.

1. Introducer
The Introducer is a sterile hemostasis introducer. The Introducer is used to load Encore Occlusion Devices into their respective trans-septal sheaths.

2. Encore Delivery Forceps
The delivery forceps are flexible and have non-sharpened jaws, which serve to hold and/or release the device at the grasping knob. The handle of the delivery forceps provides a locking mechanism that prevents detachment of the device, allowing a controlled release of the device when ready.

3. Encore Delivery Sheath & Dilator
The Encore Delivery Sheath is a sterile hemostasis catheter. The delivery sheath is used to introduce Encore occlusion devices into the body. At the tip of the delivery sheath is a radio-opaque maker band. The marker band allows the physician to recognize the end of the delivery sheath while using standard imaging techniques common to Interventional Cardiology. The dilator aids the introduction of the sheath into the femoral vein of the patient. It tapers slowly towards the end to help with insertion through the skin. It extends a short distance past the end of the delivery sheath.

4. Loading Funnel
The loading funnel attaches to the distal side of the Introducer. The loading funnel’s function is to provide a smooth surface for moving the device into the Introducer. After loading the device, the loading funnel is discarded.
